PNG to WebP No upload

Shrink PNGs for the web while keeping transparency. Conversion happens on your device; nothing is uploaded.

How to convert PNG to WebP

    1. Choose your PNG files, drop them on the page, or paste an image from your clipboard.
    2. Check that WebP is selected under “Convert to”. Adjust the quality if you want a smaller or larger file.
    3. The conversion starts straight away. It takes a second or two per image, on your own device.
    4. Click Download to save the WebP. With several images, download them all as one zip.

    Why convert PNG to WebP?

WebP files are typically 25–80% smaller than the same image as PNG, and WebP supports transparency, so logos and cut-outs keep their transparent background. Smaller images make pages load faster, which helps both visitors and search rankings.

Every current browser displays WebP, and WordPress, Shopify, Squarespace and Webflow all accept it. Keep the original PNGs as your editable masters and publish the WebP versions.

    Frequently asked questions

What quality should I use for website images?

80–85% is a good default for photos. For logos, icons and screenshots with flat colours and text, use 90% or more to keep edges clean.

Does PNG to WebP keep transparency?

Yes. WebP supports full alpha transparency, including soft edges and shadows.

Is this PNG to WebP converter free?

Yes. You can convert 3 images a day for free, up to 4 megapixels each, with no watermark. Pro removes the daily limit, keeps images up to 16 MP and converts up to 50 files at once with a zip download.

    Are my images uploaded?

No. The converter runs entirely in your browser, on your own device. Your images are never sent to a server, so it's safe for personal and confidential photos.

Can I convert several images at once?

Yes, on Pro: add up to 50 images and download them one by one or all together as a zip. Free accounts convert one image at a time.

    Which formats can I convert?

You can open HEIC/HEIF, JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF and BMP files and save them as JPG, PNG or WebP. AVIF output is available on Pro. Safari can't save WebP, so the WebP option is off there.
