JPG to PNG No upload

Convert JPG and JPEG images to PNG for editing, design and printing, without uploading them.

How to convert JPG to PNG

    1. Choose your JPG files, drop them on the page, or paste an image from your clipboard.
    2. Check that PNG is selected under “Convert to”. Adjust the quality if you want a smaller or larger file.
    3. The conversion starts straight away. It takes a second or two per image, on your own device.
    4. Click Download to save the PNG. With several images, download them all as one zip.

    Why convert JPG to PNG?

Some tools and forms ask specifically for PNG, and PNG is the better working format when you're going to edit an image several times: it's lossless, so each save keeps every pixel instead of adding another layer of JPG compression.

Converting won't restore detail the JPG already lost, and it won't make the background transparent on its own. For a transparent cut-out, use Remove Background, which also saves a PNG.

    Frequently asked questions

Does converting JPG to PNG improve quality?

No. PNG stores the JPG's pixels exactly, so it stops further loss, but it can't bring back detail that JPG compression already removed.

Will the PNG have a transparent background?

Not by itself: a JPG has no transparency, so the PNG has the same solid background. Use Remove Background to cut out the subject as a transparent PNG.

Is JPEG the same as JPG?

Yes. .jpg and .jpeg are two extensions for the same format, and this converter accepts both.

Is this JPG to PNG converter free?

Yes. You can convert 3 images a day for free, up to 4 megapixels each, with no watermark. Pro removes the daily limit, keeps images up to 16 MP and converts up to 50 files at once with a zip download.

    Are my images uploaded?

No. The converter runs entirely in your browser, on your own device. Your images are never sent to a server, so it's safe for personal and confidential photos.

Can I convert several images at once?

Yes, on Pro: add up to 50 images and download them one by one or all together as a zip. Free accounts convert one image at a time.

    Which formats can I convert?

You can open HEIC/HEIF, JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF and BMP files and save them as JPG, PNG or WebP. AVIF output is available on Pro. Safari can't save WebP, so the WebP option is off there.
