How to convert PNG to JPG
- Choose your PNG files, drop them on the page, or paste an image from your clipboard.
- Check that JPG is selected under “Convert to”. Adjust the quality if you want a smaller or larger file.
- The conversion starts straight away. It takes a second or two per image, on your own device.
- Click Download to save the JPG. With several images, download them all as one zip.
Why convert PNG to JPG?
PNG is lossless, which is great for screenshots and graphics but makes photos huge. A photo saved as PNG is often 5 to 10 times the size of the same photo as a JPG, which is too big for many upload forms and email attachments.
JPG compresses photographic detail far better. At 85–90% quality the result looks the same and is a fraction of the size. Transparent areas, which JPG doesn't support, are filled with white.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to transparency when converting PNG to JPG?
JPG can't store transparency, so transparent pixels are filled with white. To keep transparency and still get a small file, convert PNG to WebP instead.
Is it better to keep screenshots as PNG?
For screenshots with text and sharp edges, PNG stays crisper. For photos, JPG is the better choice. If you need a small screenshot, try 90% quality or more to keep text sharp.
Is this PNG to JPG converter free?
Yes. You can convert 3 images a day for free, up to 4 megapixels each, with no watermark. Pro removes the daily limit, keeps images up to 16 MP and converts up to 50 files at once with a zip download.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The converter runs entirely in your browser, on your own device. Your images are never sent to a server, so it's safe for personal and confidential photos.
Can I convert several images at once?
Yes, on Pro: add up to 50 images and download them one by one or all together as a zip. Free accounts convert one image at a time.
Which formats can I convert?
You can open HEIC/HEIF, JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF and BMP files and save them as JPG, PNG or WebP. AVIF output is available on Pro. Safari can't save WebP, so the WebP option is off there.
