How to convert an image
- Pick the format you want under “Convert to”: JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF.
- Choose your image files, drop them on the page, or paste an image from your clipboard.
- The conversion starts straight away. It takes a second or two per image, on your own device.
- Click Download to save the converted image. With several images, download them all as one zip.
Which format should I choose?
JPG for photos you'll share, email or upload: every device opens it and files are small. It has no transparency.
PNG for screenshots, graphics, logos and anything you'll edit again: lossless and transparent, but large for photos.
WebP for websites: smaller than JPG and PNG, with transparency, and supported by every current browser.
AVIF (Pro) for the smallest files on modern websites and apps, with transparency and better quality at low sizes.
Private by design
Most online converters upload your files to their servers. This one decodes and re-encodes each image on your own device, using your browser's built-in image codecs and, for HEIC and AVIF, WebAssembly builds of libheif and libavif. Your images never leave your computer or phone.
Frequently asked questions
Is this image converter free?
Yes. You can convert 3 images a day for free, up to 4 megapixels each, with no watermark. Pro removes the daily limit, keeps images up to 16 MP and converts up to 50 files at once with a zip download.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The converter runs entirely in your browser, on your own device. Your images are never sent to a server, so it's safe for personal and confidential photos.
Can I convert several images at once?
Yes, on Pro: add up to 50 images and download them one by one or all together as a zip. Free accounts convert one image at a time.
Which formats can I convert?
You can open HEIC/HEIF, JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF and BMP files and save them as JPG, PNG or WebP. AVIF output is available on Pro. Safari can't save WebP, so the WebP option is off there.
