How to convert HEIC to PNG

Why convert HEIC to PNG?
PNG is lossless: every pixel of the decoded HEIC photo is kept exactly, with no new compression on top. That makes it the right choice when you'll edit the photo further, cut it out, or put it in a design where you don't want JPG artefacts to build up.
The trade-off is size. A 12 MP iPhone photo is typically 2–3 MB as HEIC and 15–25 MB as PNG. If you only want to share or upload the photo, HEIC to JPG gives a far smaller file.

Is HEIC to PNG better than HEIC to JPG?
PNG keeps every pixel, JPG makes a file 5 to 10 times smaller. Choose PNG for editing, archiving or design work, JPG for sharing and uploading.
Why is the PNG so much bigger than the HEIC?
HEIC uses modern video-style compression, while PNG compresses losslessly, which can't shrink photographic detail nearly as much. The image itself is the same; only the way it's stored differs.
